Liz McCorry’s wedding

I’m embarrassed to say this is the first post on the McCorry Family USA blog all year and it’s almost over! Sorry to be such a slacker! I was inspired to post when I got a message from my Facebook friend Betsy McCorry, wife of Brian McCorry, of photos of the wedding of their daughter Liz on Sept. 17.

Liz, the middle child of Betsy and Brian’s five children, married Phil Koesterer at St. Patrick’s Church in South Bend, Ind. The reception was held at a charming venue called the Blue Dress Barn in rural Indiana about 45 minutes north of South Bend. You can see photos, besides the ones posted here, at Betsy’s Picasa photo page. Phil works in marketing and Liz works for the Dorothy and Gaylord Donnelly Foundation, both in Chicago.

And this was not the first McCorry wedding this past summer. Betsy says their oldest son, Patrick, married Erin Lafler July 31 in Olympia, Wash., Erin’s hometown. The reception was at Erin's home overlooking the woods and Puget Sound. Patrick works for an online advertising firm in New York City, where Erin also attends medical school.

Both weddings were just wonderful, far surpassing our expectations,” Betsy wrote.

I also need to apologize for not sharing with you at the time some sad news that I assume you’ve heard elsewhere of the death of our cousin Tess Jonas Moede on June 8. She died in a fall at the home of her parents, Bud and Teresa Jonas, in Milwaukee. She was 60. Her passing was a shock to her family and friends and she was remembered at a service June 11 at the Prasser-Kleczka Bay View Chapel on the South Side.

We, the California Mullinses, had the opportunity to extend our condolences personally to Anna (Jonas) Borden, who visited with her husband John and their children June 26, during a long West Coast vacation. We enjoyed lunch together at the Bubba Gump Shrimp restaurant in San Francisco.

My niece, Erin Freer, spent the summer doing an internship at a church in Connecticut, participating in church community service programs. She has begun her senior year at Simpson University in Redding, Calif., pursuing a degree in General Ministry. During the summer, Tricia and other Freer family members traveled to Connecticut to see her and to spend a few days at Cape Cod.

I’m still juggling several freelance gigs writing about technology, including blogging about Microsoft for Network World.

It won’t be long till I start bugging you for news about your families for the 2010 Christmas Letter. Start saving those stories. Best to all.

Nice photos, the event must have been wonderful. I’m also quite excited for my wedding tomorrow. All arrangements are done and now I’m just resting with a glass of wine. The wedding will be at a nearby chapel and the reception at one of the Seattle Wedding venues. And I’m sure I’ll get some great wedding photos too.
