Keep Sr. Benedicta in your prayers
I just got an update Sunday about the condition of Sr. Mary Benedicta, our Aunt Eleanor, who suffered a stroke Sept. 21.
Jane Williams traveled to Chicago this past weekend with her mom, Aunt Therese Jonas, to visit Sr. B, who remains hospitalized. Jane reports Sr.b B is doing “as well as can be expected” and is alert, not drugged and “seems content.” She can read and understand what people are telling her but her speech is limited. “She may be on target to explain something and the wrong words come out,” Jane wrote in an e-mail.
Sr. B, for whom many of us gathered in Milwaukee in May to mark her 90th birthday, has asked that no extraordinary measures be taken to prolong her life, Jane reported. Sr. Mary Acquinice, Aunt Rita, was at her sister’s side and enjoyed a nice visit with Jane and Therese.
“The discussion with the doctor today indicated that the meds, platelets and steroids that are helping her cannot be continued indefinitely,” Jane added. “The plan is to evaluate Sr. B and determine where she can be placed. It is expected that this will be a skilled care nursing home, which will function as a hospice.”
Also, Jane wanted to pass on that Sr. Benedicta would enjoy cards and letters from her family. You can send them to her hospital room at:

And, of course, keep Aunt Eleanor, and all your aunts, uncles and cousins, in your prayers.
